Courses
The student-centered workbook, "Know Thyself" is the course text. Social and emotional intelligence is
discovered and taught from each student's perspective. Personal
honesty-integrity is the foundation for greater character development and
begins on the inside of the one in mirror.
We teach ourselves how to better understand the
conversation between thoughts, emotions and actions. More positive choices
can be made and taught when everyone understands the inside and
outside connection between integrity, responsibility and purposeful choices.

…provides solutions
that encourage our young people
to live with integrity,
responsibility and purpose. program are
numerous and long lasting. Students love this program and look forward
to attending. It is one they often wish would continue after its
completion. Disciplinary problems and absences are reduced. Students
have greater purpose and focus, and are more interested in their
academic endeavors because they are connecting the positive purpose of
school to their own futures. Walkin' the Talk faculty members have a common communication link with students when
problems arise. They understand the value and power of "living in
the question." Students
do "know" their
own answers. It's their job to know; "why I do what I do..."
Students
appreciate the time for reflection,
introspection, inquiry and practice of new behaviors. Music, games,
discussions, small groups, videos and private times are techniques used
to keep the program moving at a fast pace that keeps students involved
and productive.
